ELECTIONS DINNER A SUCCESS

On Monday evening we had our SALUTE Elections Dinner at the Art Center of Northern NJ. We are so excited and proud that we are now and affiliate of the Art Center and will do our best to nurture this new relationship in the best way possible to benefit SALUTE and benefit our relationship with the ACCNJ.

A new President was elected, Madeline Giotta and we wish her the best of luck with her new endeavor and we know that she will do a wonderful job. A formal Blog post will appear in the weeks to come to introduce you to the new Executive Board. You will begin to see some changes to our blog and Facebook pages as new names are added and members who are no longer holding SALUTE positions are being removed. This changes as you know do take time so the new blog administrator will begin to add posts as our new Board meets and discusses the future of the organization. Please be patient during this time!

I (Lisa Peters Russ) will no longer be in charge of the Blog, Facebook or Newsletter. Members can feel free to contact Sheryl Intrator in regards to our Newsletter as she is preparing to take over this position. Let us all wish her the best with her new position and I think she will do a great job!

The Old SALUTE Phone number is no longer the way to contact the organization. A new phone number will be provided as soon as one has been decided. Please refer to your membership directory to reach out for the time being.

SALUTE Needs YOU! The Executive Board, after serving multiple terms in office, are officially announcing that it is time to elect new officers and welcome new volunteers for our Executive Board and Standing Committee Chair positions. The SALUTE Volunteers have committed themselves to offering dedicated service to promote the SALUTE organization within the community and to unite and enrich the lives of our members both artistically and socially. Without further participation from YOU, our Beloved SALUTE is in jeopardy of disappearing from our lives and the arts community for which we have been a part of for over 30 years.

On Monday evening, October 19, 2009 we are planning a General Membership Meeting and Complimentary Dinner at The Art Center of Northern New Jersey. The SALUTE Dinner will begin promptly at 6:30 in the evening, will be followed by discussion and election announcements and will end at approximately 8:30pm . Please plan on attending this very important event. Due to the recent passing of our Founding Mother Dorothy Perron we will also have on display at our dinner SALUTE Memorabilia from Dorothy’s personal collection as well as a few moments to pay tribute to this wonderful woman. Please R.S.V.P. using the Stamped postcard in the Elections packet that was sent to you last week that you WILL ATTEND this important dinner and meeting by September 8, 2009 as we will need your responses in order to organize elections and plan.

In the packet you have recieved in the mail you will find your SALUTE Elections Worksheet. It contains information about which volunteer has held the current position, their intent to continue or step down and a brief explanation about the duties involved for that particular task. The current volunteer will do everything in their power to assist and make the transition as effortless as possible. This is a group effort and in order to continue in the way The SALUTE Founding Mothers envisioned for us we must unite so this tradition can be continued.

Please return the enclosed response card by September 8, 2009 to SALUTE President Joan Strier.

During the past 35 years, SALUTE To Women in the Arts, a volunteer organization has offered its members friendship and professional associations through Neighborhood Groups, Exhibits, Membership Meetings and Public Outings. It has educated its members with erudite speakers, programs and workshops, stayed connected through newsletters and telephone tree’s. It is now beginning to enrich our online experience with blogs, social networking and photo sharing and we need to continue on this positive path. We Need YOU to step up to the plate and volunteer.

Our sincerest thanks to all members who have volunteered in the past and so pleased to welcome again those that have chosen to stay on. There are many positions that have now opened up and need enthusiastic new volunteers to breathe new life into them during the next term of office. We hope that you will volunteer to make the next SALUTE Election a complete success!

SALUTE's H2O Water Exhibit (Part II) at bergenPAC

WATER - H2O The Exhibit at bergen PAC

We would like to invite all our members to attend our opening of the forth coming SALUTE Art exhibit at bergen PAC " Water H20". Come and support your fellow SALUTE members. The Artwork was selected by juror Steve Cavallo from works at our exhibit at The Art Center of Northern N J which took place in January. Dates to Remember for “Water H20~” at bergen PAC

The exhibition at bergen PAC will take place from April 3 – to April 27, 2009.

The opening is planned for Monday evening, April 6, 2009, from 6-8 PM, at the intermezzo Gallery on the second floor.

Delivery of artwork to bergen PAC will be at ten AM on April 2, 2009

Pick up will be on the last day, April 27 at 10 AM

Bergen PAC is located at: 30 North Van Brunt Street, Englewood NJ 07631

On the right you will see a list of Executive Board Members, Titles and activated links so that you can email us easily with just one click of your mouse. In case you cannot find your membership directory or you are not sure on who to contact for a particular concern, just look through our lists of Board Members and right below them Standing Committee Members and click on the person or committee and you can be assured your email is going to the correct volunteer!

Below that you will find our SALUTE Membership List. Your name should be on it as well as your location. Please make sure that information is correct and submit any changes to me, the blog administrator Lisa Peters. Do you wish a link to be activated for your name? Do you have a website, blog, photo sharing site or any other venue in which you would like the public or other members to be able to see? If you dont have any of these things we can always link you back to your SALUTE Gallery. The only place we can't link you back to is another Arts Organization.

Dont forget to join the SALUTE To Women in the Arts Facebook Page! There we will be able to share alot more information and open the lines of communication between all members!

SALUTE To Women in the Arts

What is Salute to Women in the Arts?

Since 1974 SALUTE to Women in the Arts has had the tradition of supporting the arts, welcoming Fine Art, Literary and Performing artists and art lovers. SALUTE Members receive an informative newsletter containing information about exhibition opportunities, career guidance, field trips and reliable resources. SALUTE sponsors exhibits for their Members throughout the year. Informative meetings are held at The Art Center of Northern New Jersey and The Bergen Museum of Arts and Science. SALUTE Members are also welcomed into neighborhood support groups where they meet to motivate each other and critique work. SALUTE to Women in the Arts offers scholarships to young students interested in the arts to acknowledge their creative achievements and creative endeavors. SALUTE membership is forty five dollars per year and is open to all artists with active members from New Jersey & New York.
