SALUTE Needs YOU! The Executive Board, after serving multiple terms in office, are officially announcing that it is time to elect new officers and welcome new volunteers for our Executive Board and Standing Committee Chair positions. The SALUTE Volunteers have committed themselves to offering dedicated service to promote the SALUTE organization within the community and to unite and enrich the lives of our members both artistically and socially. Without further participation from YOU, our Beloved SALUTE is in jeopardy of disappearing from our lives and the arts community for which we have been a part of for over 30 years.

On Monday evening, October 19, 2009 we are planning a General Membership Meeting and Complimentary Dinner at The Art Center of Northern New Jersey. The SALUTE Dinner will begin promptly at 6:30 in the evening, will be followed by discussion and election announcements and will end at approximately 8:30pm . Please plan on attending this very important event. Due to the recent passing of our Founding Mother Dorothy Perron we will also have on display at our dinner SALUTE Memorabilia from Dorothy’s personal collection as well as a few moments to pay tribute to this wonderful woman. Please R.S.V.P. using the Stamped postcard in the Elections packet that was sent to you last week that you WILL ATTEND this important dinner and meeting by September 8, 2009 as we will need your responses in order to organize elections and plan.

In the packet you have recieved in the mail you will find your SALUTE Elections Worksheet. It contains information about which volunteer has held the current position, their intent to continue or step down and a brief explanation about the duties involved for that particular task. The current volunteer will do everything in their power to assist and make the transition as effortless as possible. This is a group effort and in order to continue in the way The SALUTE Founding Mothers envisioned for us we must unite so this tradition can be continued.

Please return the enclosed response card by September 8, 2009 to SALUTE President Joan Strier.

During the past 35 years, SALUTE To Women in the Arts, a volunteer organization has offered its members friendship and professional associations through Neighborhood Groups, Exhibits, Membership Meetings and Public Outings. It has educated its members with erudite speakers, programs and workshops, stayed connected through newsletters and telephone tree’s. It is now beginning to enrich our online experience with blogs, social networking and photo sharing and we need to continue on this positive path. We Need YOU to step up to the plate and volunteer.

Our sincerest thanks to all members who have volunteered in the past and so pleased to welcome again those that have chosen to stay on. There are many positions that have now opened up and need enthusiastic new volunteers to breathe new life into them during the next term of office. We hope that you will volunteer to make the next SALUTE Election a complete success!
